Discipline Has Become My New Best Friend

Hi Blooming Mommas,

So lately, I’ve been rising with the sun—5 a.m. to be exact. I start my day with a workout and a moment in my Bible. With work and getting the kids ready for school, early is the only quiet time I have, and I’m honestly so proud of myself…because I’m actually doing it.

I prep my meals, make my smoothie, pack the baby’s bag—and I do it all before the world even fully wakes up. This year, I promised myself I would show up—even when it’s hard, even when I’m tired, even when I don’t see results (because let’s be real, we all want results right after one workout).

Discipline and I—we’ve officially met. And I love her.

It’s been a full year since I gave birth, and for a while, I was really hard on myself about my weight. I remember this time last year, I was going back to work and needed new clothes. I cried in the dressing room. I didn’t recognize the woman in the mirror. I didn’t know what to do with the weight I had gained, and I felt completely lost.

As moms, we burn ourselves out for everyone—but not for ourselves.

But this week, I did something different. I started changing the things I don’t like. I’m giving myself 30 days. Thirty days of grace. Thirty days of showing up. I’ve had enough cheat days. Time is ticking, and I want my summer body back—and even better this time.

So if you’re in a similar space, hear me when I say: stop beating yourself up and start lifting yourself up. Just start. It doesn’t have to be perfect. This weekend, I woke up a little late and my little one was already up with me. I still got it in—I did a YouTube workout and added my own little flair. My baby kept bringing me her iPad, and I’d fix it and keep going. She even started mimicking my moves. That moment reminded me: our kids are watching us.

So start where you are—even if it’s from home. Even if your baby is up. Even if you’re tired. Just start. They believe in you. You need to believe in you too.

Share your postpartum journeys with me. Share your workouts. Share your wins. Let’s grow together.

God loves you and so do I.
